Feature Edition #5 - April 2007: Tilemahos Mihailidis - Featured Artist Interview
Richard Box:
Hi Tilemahos, how do you feel to be featured artists of Codrv Feature #5 - April 2007?Tilemahos Mihailidis:
Hello Richard. I'm truly honored :) It's my first time actually and I'm happy about that.Richard Box:
Now you came into Codrv in feature #4 - March 2007, Considering your short involvement in the project you have submitted alot of work. What do you think motivates you to make so much digital art?Tilemahos Mihailidis:
In the beginning it was that fresh thing you guys had in Codrv. At the time I was in need of inspiration you and guys invited me in so that was fucking great. But I think I've always been influenced from things that have happened to me/or the world in real life. That motivates me the most. I see 90% pain in this world and 10% happiness.Richard Box:
90% pain, and 10% Happiness, is this what you try to portray in your very dark surreal artwork?Tilemahos Mihailidis:
Let me say first that I'm a fan of FUN! This for the people who might misunderstand my personality. As for dark surreal artwork, yeah I'm trying to portray things that I feel the most. All these concepts are full of emotions and that's my aim.Richard Box:
Codrv feature #5 - April 2007 showcases a piece by you titled 'What A Beautiful Day'. Personally I feel that the piece slightly differs from your usual style. The colours are alot more vibrant then your usual dark setting and a less extensive use of textures. In fact, this piece seems to portray more of a celebration of life more than anything else.Tilemahos Mihailidis:
Well the day of making it I was very happy for some reason. I wanted to do a simple but effective artwork. I made this piece for all the people out there to demonstrate that there's always a reason to be happy and see things not so bad. You can say that's an opposite side of me.Richard Box:
Name your favorite artist.Tilemahos Mihailidis:
Well, Dennis is the future of HR Giger in my opinion. www.damnengine.netRichard Box:
From where do you draw your inspiration?Tilemahos Mihailidis:
Through my imagination I think. It's weird, because the moment I see the stock I can imagine what the concept can be.Richard Box:
Where do you place your value in art?Tilemahos Mihailidis:
The amount of time the artist puts into his artwork and the amount of concentration involved in the process. I cannot say imagination because I think all artists have imagination.Richard Box:
Do you have any future plans for a career in art?Tilemahos Mihailidis:
Art for me is a hobby, it's not a career. At least at this time of my life.Richard Box:
Any final messages or shout outs?Tilemahos Mihailidis:
Keep it sur-real bros!
